1. any plant of various kinds of herbs and shrubs of the nightshade family, with red or green pods containing seeds that usually have a hot, peppery taste. Green peppers, chilies, and pimentos are pods of different kinds of capsicum.
2. such pods prepared for seasoning or medicine.
